Just got done wiring up the speaker on the top cover and looked at the instructions for the internal battery kit and first thing instructed is to DISCONNECT the speaker. Unless I've missed it, nowwhere do the instructions indicate that the speaker is to be re-connected. If this is the case, it's a bummer. Advice from anyone?

The instructions don't specifically say it, but it is supposed to be reconnected after installing the battery holder.

Mike,
Logic should be inserted. The instructions do include a step to "Reinstall the top and bottom covers" on page 8. That would logically include plugging in the speaker, and if installed, the KAT2 and KIO2 as well before screwing the top cover in place. There are times when a few bit of logic must be inserted. Yes, if you want the speaker to work, logic says that you must plug it into the same place from which it was removed. 73, Don W3FPR On 7/9/2011 10:41 PM, vicki glover wrote: > Just got done wiring up the speaker on the top cover and looked at the instructions for the internal battery kit and first thing instructed is to DISCONNECT the speaker. Since it's not in the instructions, you should leave the speaker
disconnected. Seems clear. RX audio is a secondary feature in a transceiver. Sometimes, obvious steps are left off from kit instructions. This is usualy an oversight. The kit builder still needs to use some judgment. Sorry to be so direct. The K2 has been around a long time and works a lot better with the speaker plugged in. At least I've found this to be true. Headphones work fine too. :) 73, matt W6NIA K2 #2810 == On Sat, 09 Jul 2011 22:41:26 -0400, you wrote: >Just got done wiring up the speaker on the top cover and looked at the instructions for the internal battery kit and first thing instructed is to DISCONNECT the speaker.
