K2: Is it a bad idea to leave the T2-to-Freq-counter cable hooked up?

dw-4
Hey gang, on the K2,
Is it bad for the unit to leave the Cal-Filter cable connected to T2 and
Freq-in?

I'm finding myself wanting to experiment with more filter bandwidth
settings these days.

Thanks

When the cable is connected there is a slight increase in at least one transmitted spur;
the third harmonic of the BFO appears above the top of the 20-meter band. If you are
running high power it's considered a good idea to disconnect it. In QRP configuration it's
less important.

Duane,

Since you have a K2/100, the answer is "yes, that is a bad idea" - the
BFO output can couple to the KPA100 and introduce spurious output.
In the QRP K2 it is normally OK to leave the probe connected, but
removal is still recommended.
