K2 - Low resistance to ground checks on both control and front panel boards.

Guy, what have I messed up here?  How do I find out what's wrong and how do I fix it?  Please help!


Control Board:
U6-PIN 13 - 31.8K
     PIN 14 - 28.1K
     PIN 29 - 29.8K
     PIN 30 - 29.8K
U8-PIN  2 - 24.6K
     PIN 15- 24.5K
     PIN 16- 24.7K

Front Panel Board:
U1-PIN  3 - 19.5K
     PIN  4 - 20.3K

Don may weigh in here, but as I recall this part is looking for shorts
and wrong orientation of chip in socket. Check very carefully and
triple check that U6 U8 U1 are properly oriented.  That ok, you do not
indicate shorts to ground by those values.  My guess is then that you
are OK and should move on.

  Mike,

What are you using to measure the resistance?  A DMM or an older VOM?  
Many older VOMs use enough voltage when measuring resistance to turn on
semi-conductor junctions, and perhaps damage semiconductors - in other
words, don't use that kind.

If you do not have a DMM, get one of the inexpensive ones from Harbor
Freight if you want to "go cheap", they are adequate for the job.

If you are already using a DMM, then try reversing the leads - or take
it out of auto-ranging and measure again.

You are mainly checking for shorts, so take note on the schematic that
CB U6 pins 29 and 30 connect to nothing else on the Control Board, they
do go to the RF Board connector, but if your meter is reading properly,
and the U6 pin 29 and 30 inputs are not damaged, you should read a very
high resistance.
