K2 Mods & Revisions

W0JFR
I just purchased a used K2 (s/n 4507). When It arrives, how can I tell
which mods and revisions have been installed?
Thanks,
  - John, WØJFR

The easiest way, John, would be to ask the person you bought it from. If
it's s/n #4507 there won't be many (if any) official mods.

I can relay one way not to do it....
Based on the serial number of my K2 #2481....
I ordered the PSK31 mod parts kit KSB2MDKT
http://www.elecraft.com/order_form_parts.htm#K2%20Parts

PSK31 Upgrade for SSB Option.
(Included in all KSB2s shipped since Sept. 2001.) Improves PSK31 TX IMD
app note: http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/PSK31_KSB2_mods.htm

When I popped the top on my K2.......
you guessed it,
I found the parts for the mod were already installed.\

anyone need a mod kit contact me off list. <g>

John,

SN 4507 incorporated all prior Elecraft changes in the original
construction.

Unless the previous owner has added some non-Elecraft modifications, the
only possible changes would be the Keying Bandwidth Mod and the PLL
Temperature stability mod.

I suggest you download the instructions for those 2 mods from the
Elecraft website so you can compare the boards on your K2 with the
instructions for each of these two mods - if the parts mentioned in the
mod instructions are not present, then the answer is easy - it is not
installed.
