I'm the proud builder / owner of K2 No 3314 which I built in the
evenings at the start of my "retirement". The reality was that I replaced one full time job with four part time occupations, two of which involve global travel. No regrets. Never thought I would be able to visit Mongolia at temperatures of 40C below and 40C above, or climb the volcanoes of Nicaragua and El Salvador, or visit the ancient capital of Laos, or see my old friends from my years in Asia again. But the K2 has gathered dust under its embroidered felt cover for a few years - there has never been time to get a temporary license for these countries. I now want to bring it up to the current standards. I have already carried out quite a few mods and have parts sets for some more, but I really need a full list in date and K2 number order of all the mods which a reasonably competent un-solderer can make on the boards I already possess. Can one of the Elecraft Elmers point me in the right direction please? Off list is fine unless you think the advice is of more general interest. I would not dream of describing myself as an Elmer, but is this what you
are looking for? http://www.qslnet.de/member/la3za/K2/modAny.html 73 de David G4DMP In a recent message, Robert Cochrane <[hidden email]> writes >Can one of the Elecraft Elmers point me in the right direction >please? Or perhaps the list of K2 mods from the Elecraft order page? They
list K2 serial numbers that began including each and you should be able to check them off: http://www.elecraft.com/order_form_parts.htm#K2%20Parts 73, Byron N6NUL On Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 10:24 AM, David Pratt <[hidden email]> wrote: > I would not dream of describing myself as an Elmer, but is this what you > are looking for? > http://www.qslnet.de/member/la3za/K2/modAny.html -- - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2011 Cal QSO Party 1-2 Oct 2011 - www.cqp.org ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Many thanks to you both - the combination of the two is close to what
I was looking for. I had already made a list from the Elecraft component pages but was not sure it covered all the changes. 73 de Rob M0RAC At 18:31 30/12/2010, Byron Servies wrote: >Or perhaps the list of K2 mods from the Elecraft order page? Rob.
You don't have that much to add to bring it up to level. *E850138 - The temperature compensation for the PLL Reference Osc. **K2KEYMDKT - The Keying Waveshape Mod (also requires updated firmware) The Extremely Strong Signal Handling Mod - see application notes - no kit, but requires only 2 1N4148 diodes.* That is all the official Elecraft mods to bring it up to the current level. There are unofficial mods as well, but those are usually for a certain situation - choose wisely, if the intent meets your purposes, then try it, but if the originator's purpose does not fit you, then bypass it. Examples of the latter are my K2 Fixed Audio Output mod and my CW PTT for the K2 (see my webpage www.w3fpr.com). 73, Don W3FPR On 12/30/2010 12:50 PM, Robert Cochrane wrote: > I'm the proud builder / owner of K2 No 3314 which I built in the > evenings at the start of my "retirement". > > The reality was that I replaced one full time job with four part time > occupations, two of which involve global travel. > > No regrets.
