K2 SN 4307

Ryszard Cereniewicz
Hi,
My K2 SN 4307 is under construction.I finished first part succesfully, without any problems.Ad now I'm in part two, at point with winding toroids.I did it exacly following manual - I mean RFChokes RFC14, RFC16, RFC11 - number of turns and dark grey ferrite cores, diamater 9.5mm -all are correct. Because I have LC bridge, I checked inductivity and I have been suprised.Inductivity of RFC14, 16, 11 are 4x bigger than is written in component list [Appendix A].For example RFC 14 have 60uH instead 18 uH. My LC bridge is OK, I checked it. I suppose is something wrong with my toroid cores, Maybe I have got another kind of magnetic material or mistake is in component list.Could somebody advise me what is more important, number of turns from manual or inductivity.[In my opinion inductivity]. I can wind my toroids once more [I have a lot of emanel wire 0.35mm] under control LC device. And what about toroid transformers - I could't find infomation about its inductivity.
    Greetings from Poland

    P.S
Also I have measured another coils and inductors. L33 prewound inductor and T1050 ,T1005 inductors are correct

Richard-

Ferrite cores used for rf chokes and broadband transformers tend to vary
substantially more in their mixes than do cores manufactured from powdered
iron. Thus, the inductance values of toroids wound with ferrite cores can
vary substantially. The inductance values are not so critical in circuits in
which they are used, so the bottom line is that you are in good shape.

It is worth noting that if you check the inductance on your own meter,
please realize that some of the values specified in the Elecraft manuals may
vary and that differences in individual inductance meters often increase
this variation. Elecraft recommends that individual builders do NOT try to
adjust their coils to the exact values shown in the manual.
