K2 carrying case?

Chris Kantarjiev K6DBG
I'm aware of Rose Kopp's lovely soft cases for the K2. I'm looking for something
a bit more durable. I have an unused "messenger-style" bag and am hoping to find
a rubbermaid/tupperware style of box that is just a bit larger than the K2; I'm
happy to make a foam liner to protect it inside the box, and then slip it all
into the messenger bag, along with a key, cables, etc.

I haven't yet found the perfect box, or one that's even close; the K2 is
apparently not shaped like most things that people want to store!

Others must have been down this path before - did you find something? Do you
remember what style/make/model?

Thanks!

I have a Pelican 1400 case which fits well and comes with foam padding which
is easily shaped to the K2.  Not cheap, but very strong.

Chris -

I use a Samsonite L25 case.  It is just large enough for the K2, a
Kenwood MC43 mic, Palm paddle, a folding headset, user manual, AC
adapter/charger, some basic antenna materials, logsheets, and cables.
Case has Velcro straps to secure radio,  several pouches, zippers
everywhere.   I have used mine to carry the K2 all over the country.
About $30.00 at Amazon.com  (usual disclaimers apply).
