K2 - no tone on TX

n8ewy
I did a lot of maintenance work on my K2 today.  It required tearing it down
board by board.  All work went well.  I buttoned it up and hooked everything
up.  It is transmitting on CW but there is no tone, as in dah dit, just a
slight clicking.  It appears to be putting out appropriate poser levels but
is not making a tine through the speaker or in the headphones if plugged in.

I suspect something silly or simple.  Any ideas?????

Don and Jeff Kinzli had this discussion yesterday afternoon.  You might
look though those email, labeled "K2 lost sidetone", Don supplied some
suggestions there.

You were absolutely right.  I even saved that post from Don because it
seemed like a good one for my own archive.  That's pretty weird.  I just
saved it yesterday and needed it today.  Go figure.  Thanks so much.

There's a non-obvious switch in the software that is easy to hit when you
are doing things. It changes the source of your sidetone, i.e. which pin of
the controller it's taken from. If that gets changed you lose your sidetone.

Press MENU then select sidetone level (St L). Hold MENU to make that choice
active, then tap DISPLAY to change the source. You should hear sidetone when
you tap DISPLAY if that's the problem.
