I have a K2 on order and plan to add the KSB2, KAT2, KDSP2 and K160RX.
The 100w option and KAT2-100 will come later and probably be installed in a separate enclosure. My question is regarding any advice as to building and installing any of the above options during the K2 build. In other words will the attendant de-construction involved with any of these options be a reason to install the option during the original build? Aside from my own priorities, these seem to be pretty independent. My inclination is to do the K2 immediately followed by the K160RX, KAT2. The SSB and DSP will be added soon thereafter. Any pointers would be appreciated. 73 Gary - KJ7RT ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

While your are visiting, you might as well look into the K2 Internal Mic Adaptor. 73, Gary KI4GGX unpcbs.com webmaster ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Gary,
While you have the heat-sink off during the K2 build, install the header for the K160RX, the K160RX components that go on the RF Board (C13, C14 and C75) and the AUX RF header from the KAT2 kit. The only reason is so you will not have to remove the heat sink later to install these items. The K160RX may require tweaking the 80 meter bandpass filter a bit and the KSB2 option will change the way you set the K2 IF filters, so do those first. The other options can be done in any order you choose, and they will not require modifying the alignment of anything other than that option itself. FB on the external enclosure for the KPA100 and KAT100 - note that you will require the KIO2 or a suitable substitute when that happens. 73, Don W3FPR Gary W. Hello Gary,
KAT2 and DSP involve minimal deconstruction and can be installed at any time. I would choose to install the KSB2, K160RX at the first round. KSB2 involves some construction work at the front panel and better to be done at the first round. 73 Johnny VR2XMC ________________________________ 寄件人﹕ Gary W.
