K3/0 to K3

Steven Bertsch
My friend uses the K3/0 to connect to my K3, and that works fine.

But when I use my K3, I use Ham Radio Deluxe which would normally connect to the 9 pin RS232 on the back of my K3, but since I have one of the remote boxes connected to my K3 9 pin RS232, I would use the com1 on the front of the remote box. I have Ham Radio Deluxe set for com1 but it won't connect to my K3 now.

Has anyone had this problem?

There's some configuration required on the RRC units to make that
work. Specifically, you need to set "COM1 mode" (under "Serial
Settings") to either "Mode 6" or "Mode 7" (depending on whether or not
your friend also wants to connect rig-control software to the RRC at
his place).

Use MMTTY with K3/0 to K3

Steven Bertsch
In reply to this post by Iain MacDonnell - N6ML-2
My friend wants to use MMTTY with his K3/0 remoting to my K3. He wants to use AFSK. He is elderly and can't solder anymore so can he just buy the cables that will go from his computer sound card to the K3/0 line in and out?

Hi Steve,

The K3/0 accepts a standard stereo 1/8" (3.5mm) plug for both the line in and the line out. The computer is probably the same for it's line out but could be a mono plug for it's line in (or mic in). He'll have to investigate his computer. He can likely purchase what he needs at Radio Shack but these cables would be much cheaper with greater variety on-line from places like:
