ERR TXF error message received when attempting low power calibration.
No power out on CW or SSB. I have studied the trouble shooting pages in the Owner's manual but cannot find the answer. Any suggestions please? Charles - M0BIN Sorry I should have stated that firmware revisions are: MCU 1.88 DSP 1.70 Using Elecraft Utility version 1.1.4.1 Charles - M0BIN _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Charles,
ERR TXF indicates that you have not selected the 2.7k (or 2.8k) filter for CW and SSB transmit. The transmit filters are to be set up per mode. See page 44 of the operator's manual. 73, Don W3FPR charles wrote: > ERR TXF error message received when attempting low power calibration. > > No power out on CW or SSB. > > I have studied the trouble shooting pages in the Owner's manual but cannot > find the answer. > > Any suggestions please? > > Charles - M0BIN > > Sorry I should have stated that firmware revisions are: > > MCU 1.88 DSP 1.70 > > Using Elecraft Utility version 1.1.4.1 > > Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I also have the error code ERR TXG when attempting to set transmitter gain. Thanks Don, the 2.7 KHz filter is selected for CW and SSB. Also FL1 FRQ is defined as -0.89. I get no change in received tone when switching from CW to CWR. I have also received the error message ERR TXG when attempting to set transmitter gain on 160 metres. I have a Bird thruline wattmeter in line with a dummy load and I have never yet seen the K3 move the needle on the Bird dial :-) I have the KAT3 ATU and when tapping ATU TUNE 5watts appears on the K£ RF watt meter but there is no movement on the Bird needle. I have the KPA3 but I presume that there is no point in installing it until thie problem is resolved. ERR TXF normally indicates CONFIG: FXTX is not set correctly (p.44 and 51 of manual). It should be set to 2.7 or 2.8 for both CW and SSB. 73, Bill |

The Installation Manual calls for a low power test prior to installing the KPA3. I have not been able complete this test so far :-( Page 51 of the Owner's Manual requires the setting of PA NOR only if the KPA3 is installed. The same paragraph also refers to a KPAIO3 transition PC board but I can find no mention of this item on the Elecraft web site. Charles,
This means that somehow you do not have a correct filter setup for TX. Go to the FLTX config menu item and make sure you have it set to the FLx slot where either your 2.7 or 2.8 filter is installed. Do this for ALL MODES...including the ALT modes....USB/LSB, CW and CW REV, Data and Data Rev. AM and FM must use their respective filters for TX. That SHOULD clear your problem. ------------------------- 73, Greg - AB7R Whidbey Island WA NA-065 On Thu May 8 3:07 , charles sent: >ERR TXF error message received when attempting low power calibration. > >No power out on CW or SSB. > >I have studied the trouble shooting pages in the Owner's manual but cannot >find the answer. > >Any suggestions please? > >Charles - M0BIN > >Sorry I should have stated that firmware revisions are: > >MCU 1.88 DSP 1.70 > >Using Elecraft Utility version 1.1.4.1 > >Charles - M0BIN >_______________________________________________ >Elecraft mailing list >Post to: [hidden email] >You must be a subscriber to post to the list. >Subscriber Info (Addr. Your 2.7 / 2.8 filter is not setup for the transmit mode. I found the
filter setup in the K3 firmware updater application much easier to use than the config menus. Take a look at your filter settings with that, and the issue will likely be obvious. You must have the 2.7 or 2.8 filter (which ever you have) set as your transmit filter for each of the modes. Greg, it doesn't matter how long I hold the TUNE button for - it doesn't produce any power. The rig has never produced any power at all. When the TUNE button is pressed for two or three seconds then VFO A shows zero power - zero meaning 00 watts. When the rig is in TEST mode there is no power out - as expected. When the TEST mode is normal there is one bar showing on the rig RF meter. During ATU TUNE there is five watts showing on the rig RF meter. At no time is there any indication of power transmission on the Bird meter. I've been trying to solve this problem since yesterday. I went through the configuration very carefully before I reported the problem to the reflector in order to ensure that it was not a simple mistake on my behalf. No one on the reflector has made a suggestion that I had not already condidered. The receive quality on SSB is superb, as is the CW and AM, it is the best receiver I have ever heard apart from the Drake R-4C which I have. But you don't need me to tell you that. In my opinion the only people who have the equipment and the knowledge to find the fault quickly are working in your premises. I may be wrong and it could be a simple error in configuration that I have overlooked, I would be delighted if someone could inform me of that. The current firmware has been installed three times in case there was a glitch. The rig was put together very carefully and slowly using an anti-static mat and a grounded wrist strap. No problems were encountered - it is a masterpiece of design. I have carfully assembled two K2's SN's 413 and 5901 without any problems at all. I am currently using K2 5901 on CW and frequently receive unsolicited comments on the quality of the tone. It is a fine little rig that gives me great pleasure. I consider the the five month wait for the K3 has been well worthwhile but now I am faced with disappointment and worry as to how this issue is going to be resolved. Maybe stupid Question - have you Jumper installed if you are without
PA yet? I mean jumper close to rear panel which has to be removed during install of PA 100W. Normally K3/10 are coming with this installed (as mine) I do not know if you have k3/100 Lexa, -dst- charles napsal(a): > On Thursday 08 May 2008 13:49:00 [hidden email] wrote: > >> I'll ask the obvious question and forgive me for doing so.
