A fellow ham has a problem withhis K3, which works flawlwssly in SSB but
as soon as he switches to CW, the TX-frequency jumps up by 3 kHz and stays there. No RIT/XIT engaged. He was able to check with another ham and the TX was actually 3 kHz higher than the RX. This is absolutely new to me... Anyone had this kind of issue? I don't have my radio with me at the moment to confirm this, but by chance
did your friend happen to change the configuration menu setting for "CONFIG:CW WGHT"? There is a "VFO OFS" setting as described below that may cause this. From the K3 manual and another configuration reference manual I have... SSB/CW VFO Offset The K3 can automatically offset the VFO frequency when you switch from SSB to CW mode, so other stations will hear the correct CW pitch. See CONFIG:CW WGHT for details. You can transmit in CW when SSB mode is selected by just hitting the key or paddle; there’s no need to use cross-mode split in this case. The SSB station will hear the signal at your sidetone pitch. See CONFIG:CW WGHT. CW WGHT VFO OFS Tapping the 5 key selects automatic VFO offset when switching to CW from any other mode. The offset is the sidetone frequency that can be adjusted by holding the PITCH and tuning VFO A. VFO nor (the default) provides no offset. This is useful if you are carrying on a conversation in SSB and both stations wish to switch to CW.
