Hey guys,
Please accept my apologies to anyone that read my post as anything other than tongue in cheek (foot in mouth?) I'm new here on the Elecraft list, but if you've read my posts elsewhere you'll find them to be optimistic if nothing else, and the little ;-) always means "meant in a joking manner", or "far from the truth". I do it often. So sorry for adding to the noise, I'm ultra excited about having a new radio here in the K3 and appreciative beyond words that they seem to have thought thought of nearly anything that any group could want. That means contesters, QRP'ers, dx'ers, AM dudes and 6 meter types (you know who you are) ;-) And they got started on the project early so when the K3 was introduced, it was not done so by placing a marketing glossy under a glass lid at Dayton which in my mind is unpardonable. Also, I have one ordered, and as I understand it they are selling finished radios and July is not the beginning of some large beta test that often follows when the radio actually progresses beyond the "glossy" stage. These guys are showing everyone in the business how "it should be done" - that's my story and I'm sticking to it! 73, de wb8yqj/6 CW guy, Carlsbad, Ca. It could be the tuning pod/keypad thing, a bandscope, analog S-meter, or anything else that has been asked for in the K3. Could it be the K4 they are working on already? !!! Given the past history with Elecraft transceivers, they would be working on something smaller than the K1 after the K3. This would be what... the K .5 ??? (the one half K) or maybe the K- (K negative) or maybe the Elecraft "nano". I'd like to see a kit that provides single press actions for operations they didn't have room to include on the front panel of the K3. If I designed it, it would look like a combination of a rock band's mixer board and an 18 wheel truck on its side. They haven?t asked for my help on this yet. ;-) Chances are, whatever you ask for however, the guys have already done some fiddling with the idea and maybe they?re even working on it.
