Sorry if this is a repeat question but I can't find a definitive answer - is TX EQ enabled or disabled in DATA-A modes?
Would appreciate a quick reply from anyone that knows if possible. Thanks, Paul M1PAF |

Hi Paul,
All I know is the RX EQ is still enabled in data/cw so my guess is the TX EQ remains enabled as well. Shouldn't be the case, because RX EQ has a negative effect on Spot and Text Decode. Disabling RX and TX EQ for both CW and data should be better IMO, since the K3 EQ's are effecting its IF passband directly. 73' Paul PD0PSB

I think it would be wise considering RX EQ by mode as well when you're at it :-)

Lyle, for clarity can you confirm that on Synchronous Data (mode A) Tx
EQ is bypassed? 73 Dave ============ TxEQ is applied tyo all modes which use an audio input: SSB, AM, FM, DATA A. There is no Tx EQ in DATA A Synchronous. 73, Lyle KK7P ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I came up with an interesting use for RXEQ in DATA A mode -- as a narrow
AGC replacement. An external digimode program could monitor the RX signal level and use RXEQ to decrease the level of buckets containing strong signals. The PC sound card is likely the weak link, and using the K3 AGC to protect it has the side effect of decreasing TX strong on all audio level across the passban. With smaller bandwidth for this "digimode AGC", it should be easier to copy weak signals in panoramic mode. Of course, smaller buckets than half-octaves would be better for this purpose. Say 100-200Hz or so?
