K3 Diversity Reception

Julian, G4ILO
I have seen hints to the effect that the 2nd RX can be used for diversity reception. I just read in another post that the two VFOs can be locked together.

How are the antennas handled in this sutuation. If ANT A is being used for the main RX and for transmitting, is ANT B switched to the 2nd RX (presumably without the benefit of the ATU) or do you have to use a dedicated RX only antenna on a separate connector? If the TX antenna is being used with an external tuner and the KAT3 in BYPASS, would the other antenna be routed through the internal tuner to the 2nd receiver?

all that info is in the owners manual (pg 40 in mine), if you have the
KAT3, both ant 1 & 2 go through it (although the L-Network is switch
to Tx ant while is transmitting).
If you have the KXV3, you can have an additional RX only ant on that -
it does not go through the KAT3.

Not quite sure of your last question - gut feel says that would make
sense - but until I get my KRX3, not sure

You can Mix'N Match to your hearts content - all controlled via firmware

I am confused..
Assuming that I don't have the KXV3 how does the sub-receiver work?
What is the meaning of the dashed-line between
the Aux RF connector and the line to SA4/Relay K1 for connection to the
sub receiver.

Re: K3 Diversity Reception

pg 38 - Basic K3 states
"An extra RF I/O connector location is provided (AUX RF, BNC). The sub
receiver’s auxiliary input can
optionally be routed to this connector. K1 then selects either the
main RX path or AUX RF as the sub receiver’s
RF source."

I have this hole in the back panel, with a blanking plug. How one
connects a BNC socket to it, I'm not sure, but I'd like to put that
mod in.
