K3 Forcing a Firmware Download

Christopher Soames
Page 45 of the K3 manual gives me 4 points to Forcing a Firmware Download.
I have tried this many times to no avail.
The screen stays MCU LD with back light off with the TX Led flashing.
No matter what I do nothing changes.
I believe the problem may be seeing the Com Port  or not seeing it as
the case may be.
At the moment the K3 is as good as scrap metal any help in bringing it
back to its former glory would be most appreciated.

  Chris,

What happens when you instruct K3 Utility to "Test Communications" -
click on the "Port" tab to get to the proper screen.

Test Communications greyed out?  That says either the port selected does
not exist, has its cable unplugged, or communications with the K3 cannot
be established (the latter may be a K3 fault).

If that is the condition you have, it must be fixed first before you can
proceed.
If you have substantiated that the computer serial port is OK, then you
can conclude the K3 is at fault and an email to [hidden email]
is in order.

Chris: Please check K3 Utility Help on "Troubleshooting - MCU Load".  It has
a step by step procedure to recover from this situation.

Start the K3 Utility.
Help Menu
K3 Utility Help
In the "Contents" tab on the left side Click the + signs next to K3 Utility
Help and under that, Troubleshooting, and under that "MCU Load failure".

Go through those steps....

And note that power must be disconnected, not merely turned off.
