K3 + Heil HC4

n3ua
I am unable to get  Heil HC4 working  connected to K3 front panel.Tried FP.H/FP.L  with  bias on and off but  no luck !??.
Connected  cheap Condenser Microphone Element  on FP - worked great. On rear panel  HC4  works fine. Any idea ?

Thanks

My guess would be that you have the wrong adapter.  It needs to be the
Kenwood one.  The settings should be FP-H and no bias.

You say the rear panel settings work - put those same settings on the FP
mic menu and try it.
If a condenser mic element works on the FP, then you must have Bias set
on - turn it off for the HC-4 and set the range to H.
You must have the Kenwood adapter to use the front panel connector.
IIRC, the color band for the Kenwood adapter is red.

Thanks  everyone  who responded, looks  like my problem is  Kenwood Adapter. Don't have one , wired directly  from Heil mic jack 3.5mm tip to  K3 Mic  connector pin 1 and  ground to  ground -pin 7 (8).
Does anyone have Kenwood adapter schematic?

Thanks

Do you have MENU:MIC SEL set to FP.H? BIAS on? Mic gain on my setup is 25.

I put an ohmeter on the adapter, and pin 1 is the hot lead, pin 7 is
ground. Are you sure you're looking at the pins correctly?
Looking into the connector on the front of the K3, pin 1 is on the left
of the key "bump" and pin 7 is on the right. The pins are numbered
anti-clockwise from 1 to 7, with 8 being in the middle. I don't think
the Heil adapter has anything inside the shell, no extra components.

Re: K3 + Heil HC4

You do not want bias on for a HC4, it is a dynamic insert.
