Greetings All, My K3/10F now K3/100 plus mostly loaded has a problem.
The mic connector has to be pressed down a bit to get PTT when using the K3 on SSB. I use a Heil PR781 mic that goes through a Rigblaster Duo. The connector to the K3 comes from the Duo and is never changed or fooled with. Before I pull the front panel module has anyone had this same issue and what was the problem? Thanks for any hints/help. 73 K0AZ Mike Sanders EM37cd SW Missouri www.k0az.com ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

First thing I'd do is eliminate all but the mic, cable and K3. If problem persists check plug on cable. Then at mic end. Finally check other items one at a time.

Mike,
It sounds like a bad solder connection somewhere. Before you dig into the K3, try the mic directly on the K3. If all is OK, then investigate the connector for the Duo to K3 cable. If it persists with the mic connected directly to the K3, then it may be a K3 problem. Right now, there are too many variables - the Duo to K3 cable, the PR781 mic connector, the DUO itself, and the K3 - all can be suspect. Eliminating the Duo will reduce the variables to 2 - the PR781 mic plug and/or the K3. 73, Don W3FPR On 1/29/2014 12:58 PM, Mike Sanders wrote: > Greetings All, My K3/10F now K3/100 plus mostly loaded has a problem. > The mic connector has to be pressed down a bit to get PTT when using > the K3 on SSB. I had this problem several months ago. It turns out the mic connector ground (both mic and PTT) goes thru a 0 ohm surface mount resistor (at one time this was a choke, I believe). I bridged this component and the problem went away. I believe the board flexes too much
when the mic is plugged in, and this leads to failure of the resistor.
