K3 Need_Macro_Help

K5DNL
Hello all,

I would like a macro to program into M3 memory
that would take the K3 out of split mode , then
send ( UP ) in CW and return to split mode.
Would appreciate any help.

Thanks 73 Ken K5DNL

Re: K3 Need_Macro_Help

Dick Dievendorff
I haven't tested this, but I'd start with this, assuming the radio is
already in split mode and is in CW:

SWH13;KY UP;SWH13;

SWH13; to hold the SPLIT button to return to non-split mode,
KY UP; to send "UP"
SWH13; to hold the SPLIT button to return to split mode.

There are already more than enough cops around without automating this behavior. I've been told "up" many times when split up a few hundred cycles and worked the guy exactly on his last listening frequency. Some "cops" don't know what a narrow filter is, let alone QSK.

IF you must do this, please try to send "up" only once and only when the DX isn't transmitting.

Be careful what you wish for.

OUCH!!!  Heaven forbid this....

The UP'ers usually cause more interference that the station
did in the first place.   There are enough cops already.

Re: Fw: K3 Need_Macro_Help

I usually hear "UP LID" and yesterday morning even heard "UP ass".
Good for initially spotting the DX if he's really weak to start with, but he's still the lid just like the guy still calling on freq.....

I agree, I wouldn't want to macro something like that unless I was the DX (I can dream I guess)...

In which case he would not need the "unsplit" commands.

I agree - we certainly don't need any "auto cops."  There
are far too many "kilocycle kops" doing more damage than
any possible good with their kilowatts on top of relatively
weak DX.  Automating the process to put the "UP" zero beat
with the DX is particularly destructive.
