Bad 24 hours. Last night we hit a deer. Tonight while installing a
KPA3 in my K3 it fails the PAIO tst. No relay click. No fan action. Can't contact Elecraft until Monday. Any suggestions to try over the weekend would be appreciated. Hello David,
Could you take out the KPA3 module and just leave the PAIO board? Do the test again so that we can determine whether the problem is solely coming from the PAIO board. The PAIO board can work without the power module and the K3 can function in QRP mode? BTW, do you install the fans connector in the correct way (beware of the position of the red wires)? cheers, Johnny VR2XMC --- 2010年12月12日 星期日,David Christ <[hidden email]> 寫道﹕ > 寄件人: David Christ <[hidden email]> > 主題: [Elecraft] K3 PA IO TST Problem > 收件人: [hidden email] > 日期: 2010年12月12日,星期日,上午8:08 > Bad 24 hours. This is during upgrading a K3/10 to a K3/100.
The PAIO test is done before the PA3 is installed. And yes I made sure the red wire was on the pin with the silk screened word red behind it. I haven't taken time to study the schematics yet or take voltage readings. Your message on the reflector will probably get you some unofficial help. Did you also send an email to [hidden email]? I think telephone might be the only communications method that is limited to business hours at Elecraft. Hi David,
Well, I think it is now the time to send your email to [hidden email] for assistance. They know the KPA3 inside out. cheers, Johnny VR2XMC --- 2010年12月12日 星期日,David Christ <[hidden email]> 寫道﹕ > 寄件人: David Christ <[hidden email]> > 主題: Re: [Elecraft] K3 PA IO TST Problem > 收件人: "Johnny Siu" <[hidden email]>, [hidden email] > 日期: 2010年12月12日,星期日,上午9:01 > This is during upgrading a K3/10 to a > K3/100. > The PAIO test is done before the PA3 is > installed. I posted it here just in case there was something
obvious I overlooked. I am too busy this weekend to do much more with it. My intention is to call on Monday. Thanks all. That was it. I had tried it a second time per installation
instructions. Tried a third time and there it went. Now I can continue the installation. There is another small mystery which can be solved later. When I go to fan 1 the fans jerk once but don't spin. Going to 2 3 and 4 they spin fine. If I go to e and then to 1 they continue to spin. Also if I start at 1 and flick the blades with my finger they run fine. Ill have to get out my VOM and check the supply voltage. Makes me think of that cell phone ad. With Elecraft you are getting thousands of support people.
