Hi,
I have done the CAL VCO again and for now, so far, the issue appears to have gone and the K3 is acting normal Thanks to all for the help, you guys are great 73's Gary Sent via BlackBerry® from Telstra ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
If you've not done the Synthesizer ALC Mod, you should do so. Even with this mod installed, I recently had K3SYN unlock problems with my Main VCO (and not Sub) before the rig warmed up (i.e. FP temperature <19C). Elecraft has apparently made some additional component changes in capacitors and they shipped me a new board which so far has completely solved the temperature related problem. For those of you new to Elecraft, here's an example of their phenomenal service. I notified k3support of the unlock problem on Friday morning. Gary AB7MY suggested the K3SYN board exchange and Elecraft shipped the K3SYN board Friday afternoon via Priority Mail. Monday morning the board arrived, was installed and I confirmed that the unlock problem was solved. Tuesday the bad board was returned to Elecraft in their prepaid mailer. 3 days total from notification to problem solved...and all at Elecraft's expense! I challenge anyone to duplicate this service with any other manufacturer. Here's a general comment regarding many of the problems posted on this list. You'll save yourself a LOT of wasted time and trouble if you simply contact k3support@elecraft.com directly. Gary AB7MY and the support crew are extremely responsive and you'll likely get a response within hours...even on weekends and holidays. The Elecraft team has FAR more experience with problems than anyone on this list, and they'll likely solve your problems much more quickly than posting your problems here. 73, Bill |
That's correct and I sometimes just wonder whether Gary needs to sleep at all.
Thanks, Gary for your past support for my K2s and K3. 73 Johnny VR2XMC ________________________________ 寄件人﹕ Bill W4ZV <[hidden email]> 收件人 [hidden email] 傳送日期﹕ 六, 10月 24, 2009 9:30:40 PM 主題: [Elecraft] K3 Support - Save time by contacting directly rfenabled wrote: > > I have done the CAL VCO again and for now, so far, the issue appears to > have gone and the K3 is acting normal > If you've not done the Synthesizer ALC Mod, you should do so.. Make sure that you put the split lock washer spacer between the synth board and the stand off. I've seen too many cases where people ddn't take the time to put that in, or did it incorrectly and have crushed the SMD Resistor near the screw hole. Pull your board off and make sure you don't have a small crack in the resistor. This could be causing this intermitant problem you're seeing. > To: [hidden email] > From: [hidden email] > Date: Sat, 24 Oct 2009 09:49:43 +0000 > Subject: [Elecraft] K3 PLL-1 error > > Hi, > > I have done the CAL VCO again and for now, so far, the issue appears to have gone and the K3 is acting normal > > Thanks to all for the help, you guys are great > 73's > Gary > Sent via BlackBerry® from Telstra > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html _________________________________________________________________ Windows 7: It works the way you want.
