Finally getting the software and hardware setup. Great to have this time off during the holidays. Got the following working well at the same time with the K3 and two monitors: LP-PAN, LP-Bridge, PWRSDR, Skimmer, N1MM and also MMTTY(FSK) & AXETTY (for Dxbase) working fine. Still working on Dxbase to see if it can interface with LP-Bridge. The next thing I want to tackle is PSK31. Tried WINPSK but had problems getting enough audio signal (do not have this problem with MMTTY). So, any recommendations for a PSK program that interfaces well with the K3? I am not using any of the interface boxes as so far things seem to work fine with a direct connection between the K3 and my PC. Tnx for any feedback.

Tony I use Ham Radio Deluxe and it's DM780 program which is part of the
download package, it does multiple modes and integrates well to the K3. Keying is via the serial cable without needing to set anything in the K3 menu... Simon, the author of HRD, has a K3 and knows a thing or two about integrating to it. There's a new log book feature out soon as part of HRD, although I find the current log OK for my needs. Highly recommended and it works remote control too. 73 Dave, G4AON K3/100 #80 --------------- So, any recommendations for a PSK program that interfaces well with the K3? In addition to the recommendation to use Simon's DM780, you might also
consider fldigi, which runs on Windows XP, Vista, MacOS, Linux, and a few other operating systems. I'm one of the authors, albeit way down the list. (The modem set in DM780 originally came from fldigi, but they have quite different UI and feature sets above that.) Leigh/WA5ZNU > > Finally getting the software and hardware setup. I was going to suggest Fldigi too, it's a lot leaner than HRD and allows you to choose your own logging program. But I have had lengthy exchanges of emails with a couple of people who took up my suggestion and had trouble getting it working with their K3s (Frank, did you ever succeed?) I think the setup side of things could do with a wizard or something. Of course I realize Fldigi was originally written for Linux whose users *expect* things to be difficult! :)

Tony, I've been a HRD + DM780 user for several months now. It is outstanding software. I use the band switching features in the software and have never bothered with the memory in the K3. I run PSK quite a bit and the one click to the PSK portion of the band is great. HRD does not yet support all of the K3 features, but it supports everything I (and probably most others) need. The crystal filter selection in HRD does not work properly, but I rarely select the filters manually anyways. I use VOX control for PSK and it works great. Set your ALC to 4 solid and the 5th bar flashing and you are good to go. 73, Don K2PMC |

Julian - today I downloaded fldigi and now I have no problems with rig
control. Is this a new version with enhanced rig.xml or hamlib? Thanks for all the assistance. On 1/5/09, Julian, G4ILO <[hidden email]> wrote: > > > > Leigh L.
