K3 PSK31 will not allow Split operation.
New kit K3 S/N 8156 basic setup, one 250 Hz filter option. No other options. In PSK-D mode, the K3 will not allow receiving on VFO A and transmitting on VFO B. The message SPL N/A comes up when holding the Split button. In FSK-D RTTY Split works fine. Other modes work fine for Split as well. Both VFO A and VFO B are on the same mode and band. Is there some reason that would cause Split not to work with PSK31? PSK31 SPLIT:
Folks, It seems the solution is there is no solution. PSK31 SPLIT appears unsupported in the K3 and the KX3. The argument seems to be PSK31 is never used in SPLIT operation. But W1AW/* uses Split for pileups. And many DXpeditions have used it (T32C for instance). While I rarely use any digital mode other than CW, I thought it was nifty to have RTTY and PSK31 as part of the K3. Turns out it is near nifty. :) Ah, but maybe SPLIT for PSK31 is on on the list of things to come later… or have I missed something? —Bob W1XT, Sun City West, Arizona On May 12, 2014, at 12:55 PM, Bob Myers <[hidden email]> wrote: > K3 PSK31 will not allow Split operation. > > New kit K3 S/N 8156 basic setup, one 250 Hz filter option. If you want to run PSK31 split, use LSB or USB modes, being sure to turn off
the compression and any equalization. There is also RIT or XIT-- provided the split value isn't huge.
Also with subrx, one can do split just fine in PSK. 73 de Brian/K3KO On 5/13/2014 13:18, MontyS wrote: > If you want to run PSK31 split, use LSB or USB modes, being sure to turn > off the compression and any equalization. > > Monty K2DLJ > > Ah, but maybe SPLIT for PSK31 is on on the list of things to come later… > or have I missed something? > > —Bob W1XT, Sun City West, Arizona > > > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Message delivered to [hidden email] > > > ----- > No virus found in this message. > Checked by AVG - www.avg.com > Version: 2012.0.2247 / Virus Database: 3722/6984 - Release Date: 05/12/14 > > > ----- No virus found in this message. Have you tried using XIT? I seem to remember working one of the W1AW/x
stations that was listening up 2 using the XIT control to offset my transmitter. And yet another solution comes to mind, if you are using DM-780 you can
lock your transmit frequency on the waterfall and move the receiver about as needed. Kind of a reverse operation in this context but it works. I use the lock feature frequently when working a station that walks about when I do not want to chase them up and down the band. Thanks everyone. For every complicated question, there is a simple answer: XIT. Gee, amazing.
