K3 PTT irritations

Stewart Baker
Like some others I find the inability of the K3 PTT to be split between
HF and other equipment such as transverters irritating.

Also my K3 outputs a low on Key Out  for about 1 sec on power up which
inconveniently activates external T/R relay switching.

The K3 provides all the signals for you to implement this with some simple external logic. Why should it provide it as standard? Most people will never need it.

And which other radios provide multiple PTT outputs? A simple set of
phono sockets and diodes in a small "project box" will provide parallel
keying, if that is what you want.

FT-847 is one example; it has 4 band specific PTT outputs on the back panel,
which are very useful in avoiding keying the 432 amp when on 6m
