K3-PWR knob

philippe.trottet
Dear Elecrafters,
Is it possible to increase the speed of the the PWR knob ?
To move from low to high power and vice versa on my K3 #3616 is quite long.
Thanks for ur advises.

Re: K3-PWR knob

Gary Gregory
Phillipe,

You can set power ber band and you can lock that in also. (TAP 1)

I have not read that we can vary the speed of the Power Knob Control though.

In my case I would have that 'feature' turned off as I prefer the per band
setting and find I very rarely vary the power out range.

Regards,
Gary

I believe that the answer is no.

However, you can instead define a few simple macros like
pc000;
pc070;
pc005;
pc100;
and assign each to a front-panel key.  I think that the K3 Utility is the easiest way to set up macros (see its Help file).  Of course, you can choose your own favorite power levels.

In my case, I assigned the first above macro to M3 tap, the second to M3 hold, the third to M4 tap and the last to M4 hold.  Then I can select any of the four powers with a single key tap (or hold).  Tweaks to nearby power levels could then be accomplished via a small turn of the power knob.

Unfortunately, keys assigned to macros can't also be used for CW or voice memories.  So there are limitations to this approach.

Many thanks to Gary, Jim and Paul for their kind advises.
Macros has been assigned for that purpose and it exactly fit my needs.
