[K3] Rf connectors inside

Eduardo González
Does anyone know the name of coaxial cable connectors inside the K3? I'm
looking for this type of connectors for a project.

David Christ
I believe they are called TMP connectors. Here are some drawings.

They are called TMP connectors.  The connectors are very
inexpensive....the crimp tool to properly install them, not so much.

Look for hifissb on Ebay.co.uk.  They sell lots of modules from stripped
equipment.  Their email address is [hidden email]

Reinhard has lots of ready-made TMP cables removed from current equipment
and I'm sure he could help out, rather than you spending forever hunting out
components and crimp tool.  He's a nice, helpful guy and I hope to see him
at the UK's "National Car Boot Sale" on 19th May.

Recently, I purchased a few TMP sockets from Inrad, the filter people, but
here's a warning.  If you don't ASK them to send the goods by USPS First
Class International, they will send them by some priority system.  It's
insane that some American businesses can sell $6 of components that fit in a
tiny padded bag and then ship them for $38, when transit time is the same or
just a day longer!  I asked and they agreed to send the items for $7 by
First Class International, but they arrived by Priority mail and my account
was debited for $38 shipping.  I protested and they refunded me $31.  I had
been asked to remind them on the order of the different postal arrangements
and I did, but not in the way they had anticipated.  Different minds Hi!

I mention this only because you don't get if you don't ask!  I always ask
Elecraft to send stuff to me by cheapest air route to the UK.  If the
package is subjected to VAT by Customs, the purchaser is supposed to pay VAT
on the shipping charge and often does.  It can make a significant difference
to the cost.
