Hi all,
Here is the problem. I am using my K3 in SSB mode. I key down the mic, and it shows the red LED "TX" quite bright, but no power is coming out. However, when I key the radio with the audio input from the computer (using N3FJP's AC Log software) I am able to play a recorded file (e.g., "W4PAH", "Thank you, you are 59 into Wisconsin", etc.). I've tried both my hand mic and my desk mic. No difference in behavior. I haven't changed any settings that I can recall. Help! -john W4PAH ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Double check the Mic setting (front panel knob). If you accidentally
turned it to zero you'll get no output. Don't ask me how I know. 73, Dennis NJ6G On 3/6/2014 2:56 PM, John Shadle wrote: > Hi all, > Here is the problem. I am using my K3 in SSB mode. John,
Specifics on the microphones involved may be helpful as well as your mic gain settings. Some microphones are Electret type and need bias turned on in the menu, others are dynamic and do not like bias (they might work, but can 'sound funny'). The Elecraft mics all use electret elements and need bias turned on. In other words, more information is required for a good answer rather than guesses. You can (and should) do testing in TX TEST and obtain enough audio to drive the ALC meter to 5 to 7 bars with compression set to zero. Once you have obtained that level, increase the compression to whatever you desire. If those conditions are all OK, you should have SSB output. 73, Don W3FPR On 3/6/2014 5:56 PM, John Shadle wrote: > Hi all, > Here is the problem. I am using my K3 in SSB mode. Wow! Thanks for all the positive and helpful comments. I feel like a
fool...somehow I had MIC GAIN down to 0. I am clearly the most talented guy on this list! ;-) Ha. -john W4PAH On Thu, Mar 6, 2014 at 5:56 PM, John Shadle <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi all, > Here is the problem. I am using my K3 in SSB mode. I remember learning that the VOX was important when running CW on the K3. I never would have guessed. Mark AD5SS On Thu, Mar 6, 2014 at 6:57 PM, John Shadle <[hidden email]> wrote: > Wow!
