K3 Setting Audio!

Hi

Can someone give me a website where i can find an audio setting for elecraft
K3??  I have Heil HC4 and K3’s Mic. I just want to adjust it… Thanks!

Alfredo,
Many things control how you sound.
Mic, your normal voice characteristics, you room surroundings.
It's best to put your K3 in the test mode, and adjust you Mic Gain and
Compression while listening to yourself on your headset with the Moni
Function turned on.
Once your happy, make some QSOs and ask how you sound.  Most hams will give
you honest reports.
Once you really happy you can play with the Transmit Audio.

Well, you *could* listen to it on the built-in monitor, or on another
receiver.  It is probably best that you're satisfied with your own
settings not someone else's.  After all, it's your voice.

I use MIC: 20, CMP: 12, generally.  The mic has an HC4 element.

Alfredo,

The instructions are suitable for any microphone.
Set the compression to zero, then adjust the mic gain to give an
indication on the ALC meter of 5 to 7 bars. Do that in TX TEST mode so
you do not bother your ham neighbors.

Then listen to your own signal in the monitor and set the compression to
the desired level.

When you change microphones, go through the same process because all
mics are different.

Jim Brown K9YC has suggested that you go into TX EQ and turn the bottom
two bands to as low as you can get them to reduce the power-robbing low
frequencies that contribute nothing to the intelligence of a signal.
