Snip
This has to be one of the silliest threads EVER! I think the indications that you are working split are clear enough, but if you go back and read the original post that started it, the OP complained that he had FORGOTTEN to engage split several times and suggested that a clearer indication of split activation would help avoid the error. What the OP actually wants is a reminder that split is NOT activated when it should have been. This can clearly only be achieved by making the K3 clairvoyant so that it knows how the station you have just tuned to is operating. If a user forgets to check that split is enabled when it is needed then I don't think even a fanfare of trumpets when it IS enabled will help. The only solution is to "engage brain before operating radio." ----- Julian, G4ILO. K2 #392 K3 End Snip Sometimes there is a real need to call a spade a shovel! Yes, this has to be the silliest thread ever. Unless you get up sleep walking in the middle of the night, turn on the K3 and start transmitting.... Perhaps some need a sign above their radio that states "Engage Brain before setting Mouth in Motion"...Hmmmm, I can make those, orders anyone? 73's Gary VK4WT/P "In the Motorhome" Sent via BlackBerry® from Telstra ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Speaking of "SPLIT"
how about "SPLITTING" this thread to PRIVATE EMAILS. Enough bandwidth has been wasted on it already. de K2GN/Larry K3 - S/N 3278 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I have just finished writing the kill filter for this thread. But before I hit the button I would like to make a request; I would like to have an Elecraft XCVR that after being turned on will read my mind, make my morning coffee, read the newspaper for me, then go to the spotting network, work all the countries, zones, grids, and states I need, while I play with my two old K3's and dream about the good old days of ham radio. At the end of the day I would like for it to write an email to the Elecraft Reflector for me and ask for improvements it has thought up during the day. I think I'll split for now :o) 73, Tom, N5GE [hidden email] K3 #806, K3 #1055, PR6, XV144, XV432, KRC2, W1 and other small kits. 2 W2's on order 1 K144XV on order http://www.n5ge.com http://www.swotrc.net ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
