Hello Trev,
From my experience with XV144, working under FM mode, even at 10 watts, the transverter is very very hot. I put my comment in www.eham.net However, I do not use it for Sats. 73 Johnny Siu VR2XMC ________________________________ 寄件人﹕ trev <[hidden email]> 收件人﹕ [hidden email] 傳送日期﹕ 2009/11月/5 (四) 6:41:01 PM 主題: [Elecraft] [K3] K3, Tranverters and working sats Hello to all in the group. I would like the opinion of any members of this group with regard to the K3 and VHF and UHF transverters. Does anyone have experience of the K3 used with Elecraft transverters for working through sats? Can a setup with the K3 do full duplex? Is there any problems with general FM working locally through repeaters etc. Any thoughts, Ideas would be most welcome. Thanks for any replies. Best 73 Trev GW4IMC PS I have posted this before but it has not shown up. Apologies if two pop up. A single K3 cannot do full duplex (at this time) for satellite operation.
Investigation of whether it may someday even be "possible" is somewhere down "The List". ("The List" being an ever expanding Honey-Do list that I am sure Wayne has a love/hate relationship with) I will let others comment on specifics of general operation with transverters. 73, Bruce N1RX ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hello Trev and others,
I've been using an XV144 with my K2 and K3 on the satellites for a few years. Mostly receiving with AO-7, VO-52, DO-64 and the ISS. Occasionally transmitting into FO-29, and AO-51 (The K3 has the FM filter). Pretty much voice only, no CW (not much call around here) or digital. The K3+XV144 combination is hard to beat. The bandpass filters in the XV144 were peaked for the SSB section around 144.1MHz and the satellite band of 145.9MHz. There isn't too much of interest to me in between. The K3+XV144 has been used on my local repeater. My other radio for the 70cm side is either a FT-817 or old FT-780R. The XV432 would be much better suited to satellites if it had a 6m IF and covered 432-438MHz. Hope this helps. 73 de David VK5DG trev wrote: > > Hello to all in the group. > I would like the opinion of any members of this group with regard to the K3 > and VHF > and UHF transverters. > Does anyone have experience of the K3 used with Elecraft transverters for > working through sats?
