Utility version 1.2.12.28. FW version 3.79.
When I try and examine the filter configuration in SSB or AM mode: "Unable to read K3 crystal filter configuration" In the CW and DATA modes, all is OK. The filter configurations are shown properly. This problem now has existed for two firmware updates. Use the utility with a real RS232 port at 38400 bps. WIN-XP. Firmware upgrades went OK so the PC-K3 link is good. There are no serial-usb converters to blame. This shouldn't be. Feedback like: "mine doesn't do that" isn't helpful. Redownloading and reinstalling the firmware program doesn't fix it. 73 de Brian/K3KO ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Hi, Brian. I'm not understanding this problem completely. When you are in
CW or DATA mode and access the Filter Configuration window in the Utility, don't you see the USB, LSB, AM and FM enable checkboxes? And, if you tap the MODE button on the K3 to cycle through LSB, USB, CW, AM and FM modes, doesn't the Filter Configuration window remain the same? Do I understand you to report that if the K3 is in CW or DATA mode when you first invoke the Filter Configuration, then the window comes up as it should? But then if you close the window, change the K3 mode to AM or LSB or USB, then try to reopen the Filter Configuration window, you get the error message "Unable to read K3 crystal filter configuration"? The mode that the K3 is in has nothing to do with the Utility reading the filter configuration settings, so something else is going on to disable the filter configuration readings when all you think you're changing is the mode. I have the same firmware and utility versions, also running XP (Pro) and
a real serial port at 38400 bps. Mine is working OK and reads (and will alter) the filter settings when the K3 is on AM/SSB/CW etc. You mention the problem has existed for two firmware updates, have you tried earlier firmware or an earlier version of the utility? 73 Dave, G4AON K3/100 #80 ------------------- When I try and examine the filter configuration in SSB or AM mode: "Unable to read K3 crystal filter configuration" In the CW and DATA modes, all is OK.
