K3 Utility vs. RemoteRig?

Rick Tavan-2
Can someone remind me why K3 Utility can't connect to a remote K3 via a
microBit RemoteRig Controller pair even though N1MM and Logger32 connect
just fine?

Rick,

This is a bug in the K3 Utility that you and I reported to Dick to fix
in February 2018. I am not sure where he is in getting this taken care of.

Hi,
It's not a bug. The K3 utility uses many additional commands beyond the
published API.  In addition, you can load firmware through the utility.
I would think that the remote rig controller relies on Ascii commands and
not binary transfers. It would be quite a risk to your radio to use any
product to transfer firmware or undocumented commands.
If you must do this remotely, then you should have a PC at the remote site
and then connect via something like TeamViwer.

Sounds like outdated design to me. The K4 should have more internal
horsepower so remotely sending firmware will be easier.

Also not a fan of unpublished APIs.
