Can someone remind me why K3 Utility can't connect to a remote K3 via a
microBit RemoteRig Controller pair even though N1MM and Logger32 connect just fine? /Rick N6XI -- Rick Tavan Truckee and Saratoga, CA ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
Rick,
This is a bug in the K3 Utility that you and I reported to Dick to fix in February 2018. I am not sure where he is in getting this taken care of. 73, Mitch K7DX / DJ0QN -- Mitch Wolfson K7DX / DJ0QN 10285 Boca Cir, Naples, FL 34109 Skype: mitchwo USA: Home:+1-239-221-9600 - Mobile:+1-424-288-9171 Germany: Home:+49 89 32152700 - Mobile/WhatsApp:+49 172 8374436 On 17.12.2019 17:31, Rick Tavan wrote: > Can someone remind me why K3 Utility can't connect to a remote K3 via a > microBit RemoteRig Controller pair even though N1MM and Logger32 connect > just fine? > > /Rick N6XI > > -- > > Rick Tavan > Truckee and Saratoga, CA > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Message delivered to [hidden email] ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |

Hi,
It's not a bug. The K3 utility uses many additional commands beyond the published API. In addition, you can load firmware through the utility. I would think that the remote rig controller relies on Ascii commands and not binary transfers. It would be quite a risk to your radio to use any product to transfer firmware or undocumented commands. If you must do this remotely, then you should have a PC at the remote site and then connect via something like TeamViwer. 73 Tom va2fsq.com -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] <[hidden email]> On Behalf Of Mitch Wolfson DJ0QN / K7DX Sent: December 17, 2019 11:03 PM To: Rick Tavan <[hidden email]>; Elecraft Reflector <[hidden email]> Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 Utility vs. RemoteRig? Sounds like outdated design to me. The K4 should have more internal
horsepower so remotely sending firmware will be easier. Also not a fan of unpublished APIs. On Thu, 19 Dec 2019, Tom wrote: > Hi, > It's not a bug.
