Earlier this morning I was operating JT65 with no problems.
Left the rig alone; worked on other computer; left the house for a while and when I returned, I tried to transmit using JT65; using CW and pressing the front=panel "XMIT". In all cases the main Display of the K3 shows "0 W". Checking CONFIG: Tune PWR shows 30. Adjusting the K3 front-panel knob "PWR" is what I'd expect, variable to whatever I turn it to. I have learned from Elecraft that this may be indicative of two blown
FET's in the 10w amp stage inside the K3. gremlins abound. And all while I was away doing chores outside. Since I had the dogs with me it must have been the inside cats! -- Bob KD7YZ http://www.qrz.com/db/KD7YZ www.denstarfarm.us/LGD ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Bob,
You say in CW, did you mean to say Data A mode on the K3, which is what you need for JT65. Zero output would be what you get if in CW mode and ptt on, with an audio input type data mode. Just a thought 73. John. When My K3 (kit) was about a year old it developed a similar issue.
In my paranoia to not damage the TMP connectors, I had not used enough force to press home the TMP located just under the right forward corner (Toward the front panel) of the sub-receiver on the main board. I actually traced the signal to that point! Now I'm a little less paranoid and make sure the TMP connectors are firmly pressed home. 73 George AI4VZ -----Original Message----- From: Bob KD7YZ Sent: Friday, January 17, 2014 1:44 PM To: K3 List Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3: "XMIT" produces Display "0 W" suddenly I have learned from Elecraft that this may be indicative of two blown FET's in the 10w amp stage inside the K3. gremlins abound.
