K3: Yamaha CM-500 TX settings

Chester Alderman
Could someone please re-past the suggested TX EQ for the K3 when using the
Yamaha CM-500 mic? My settings seem to have gotten reset  somehow.
Thanks.

Tommy,

Not a direct answer to your question, but if you download K3EZ, it becomes very easy to tweak both RX and TX EQ settings. You can then test in real time using the monitor or DVR.  I think it's better doing it this way as you can tailor settings to your voice rather than basing it off someone else's configuration.

Rear panel, bias on, Menu Mic Gain to low setting.  TXEQ -- set two
lowest bands to their minimum setting. Depending on your voice, you may
also want a lot of cut in the third band. Do the third band by ear based
on reports from someone listening with their RX filter wide. Set all
other filters flat (zero, no cut, no boost).

To set levels -- first, turn COMP all the way down, then talk and set
front panel mic gain for ALC (indicated on the meter) to the marked
level for ALC. THEN turn up COMP until you see 10dB of compression on
voice peaks.  Now you're ready for on-the-air signal reports.
