The 311 appears to be a set of level converters to convert the
"one open collector per band" output of the Orion/Orion II to
the +12V select lines (160/80/40/20/17-15/12-10 M) for the
the Herc 2.
The K3 does not provide decoded band data - its output is Yaesu
format BCD. In order to use the K3 with TenTec 311/Herc 2, it
is necessary to decode the BCD data to "open collector per band."
The simple solution for that decoding is the W9XT "BCD-10" board:
http://www.unifiedmicro.com/decoder.html. You will need to supply
your own case, power supply (or borrow +12V from the K3) and the
matching connectors for both the 311 and K3 ACC jacks.
