This message didn't seem to go through on my first attempt last night. Sorry
if you get two copies... I've posted page-by-page assembly pictures of my K3/100 #25 at my web site: http://www.craigr.com/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=70 To view the pictures in order make sure you sort by file name, not title or date. (Click the "+" sign to the right of "file name".) That might be the default view. The pictures are based on the Rev B assembly manuals. They are changing all the time so the page numbers might not agree with yours when you get it. On the other hand, I don't know if these pictures are as handy as the K2 or KX1 pictures I have at my site since there aren't many tricky steps or confusing components. But they're fun to look at if you're waiting for a K3. There are 69 high-resolution pictures there; more than enough to drool over. :-) Craig NZ0R K3/100 #25 K2/100 #4941 K1 #1966 KX1 #1499 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Hi,
Interesting, but that jumble of toroids on the rf board is just plain ugly. I like 'em neatly lined up like on my K2. Maybe the folks in production will say that it was made on purpose, in order
to reduce the mutual inductance and so the coupling.... What I did note is the packaging, being layered, did apply some pressure to the taller components causing some toroids to lean a little. I plan to gently stand them up, but I may wait until after I have the rig running and baselined. I don't want to tweak any conditions that were present during alignment and test. On the KAT3 and KPA3 boards, the toroids are larger and the effect is more pronounced, but still useable as is. I still need to see what the assembly manual might have to say about this.
