Dick,
I use a case from Harbor Freight: Item #69315 They are about 20-$25 depending on whether you have a 20 or 25% coupon or not. Comes with adjustable dividers and removable inside lid storage. I use a foam sheet between the lid and radio. It fits my K3 nicely, leaves room for the mike and power cable. I use the cases for other radio stuff, organized by default. Sounds like the case I bought from Home Depot at about the same price. I am happy with it and agree with Richard's comments.

I use two of these HF cases. One hold the K3 and mic, the other holds the
P3, Powerwerx power supply, the cables, and manuals. This will be the fourth field day that they come out of the shack in this configuration. (Don't forget to remove the little metal thing that holds the removable pallate) I don't think they would be strong enough for shipping around the world, but for carrying the rig around and preventing scratches or other damage, they work fine. 73, Terry, WB4JFI -----Original Message----- From: Richard Sent: Tuesday, June 10, 2014 9:41 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] K3 case Dick, I use a case from Harbor Freight: Item #69315 They are about 20-$25 depending on whether you have a 20 or 25% coupon or not. I use one of roses cases for the KX three, it is not a hard case but it makes it really easy to move around.

If you want something pretty bulletproof, try these surplus containers:
http://store.colemans.com/cart/aviators-kit-boxcontainer-aluminum-p-260.html I have two of them. One I was able to fit a block of foam and cut it out so the K3 fits very nicely. If you tried to drop kick one of these, you'd break your foot. Use it to haul the rig to the field. Rick AI1V |

Whoa... for $30 ... super duper heavy duty.
