Sometime back (before I got sn 1396) there was a discussion of sharing
configuration files. Thus a non-contester could snag and load, and compare, various configuration and K3 setup styles. Has this happened and I missed it ? Did it run into technical difficulties ? Niel,
sharing K3-Configuration is not that simple ... or maybe it is ? The Information inside the Config-File is not documented to the public yet. So it could be possible that you would write configuration dependent information into your K3 which are not working with your configuration. It would be necessary to decide which group of information is configuration or machine dependent. Maybe the K3-Utility will be extended to handle this ? vy 73 de Thomas, DM7TN -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Niel Skousen Sent: Friday, June 12, 2009 2:53 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] K3 configuration file(s) Sometime back (before I got sn 1396) there was a discussion of sharing configuration files. Niel .....
The configuration files have some "radio specific" things, but most of it should be able to be shared, but it seems not many want to share how they have their K3 set up. I have a spreadsheet - actually several - at http://k8dd.com/k3/ The http://k8dd.com/k3/K3_Settings<date>.xls files are what I have had in my K3. Plus there is a lot of other information on memories, programmable function keys, etc. I have been very happy with the settings in the latest spreadsheet in some of the major contests both from the US and from DX. Several people have said they never looked at my settings, but they liked the format of the spreadsheet and deleted my settings and put theirs in! So .... you can see how mine is set up - or was set up in the past. Or you can download the latest date spreadsheet, wipe out my settings and you have a good form to fill out with your settings. I think it is good up to 3.14 MCU. Feel free to use the spreadsheet, with or without my settings. There is also a calibration procedure writeup - In the order that they are run with a new K3. I took this from the Operating Manual PDF and set it up the way it seemed the tests were run on a new radio, mostly because I've replaced the Front Panel PCB so many times that now I also have a "Front Panel replacement" writeup that I have not put on the web page yet! Feel free to use any of the files on http://k8dd.com/k3/ If you like them give me credit. If you don't like them - don't tell anyone where they came from, but tell me what you didn't like! 72 73 Hank K8DD/5 Plano TX for the Hamcom Hamfest
