K3 delay on power output ssb

mikerodgerske5gbc
This has been brought up before. I think mine is doing it but not sure yet.
Don't remember if their was a fix. As I recall some users were using tune after changing power level to remedy the problem. It's been a couple months or more since it was mentioned. You can probably do a archive or even a google search.

Re: K3 delay on power output ssb

  Mike,

That problem is usually the result of not enough audio into the K3.  Is
the ALC meter lighting up 5 to 7 bars?  If not ---
To properly set the mic gain, first set the compression to zero (1:1),
Then use TX TEST so you don't emit RF and bother anyone.
Now adjust the Mic Level so the ALC meter indicates at least 5 bars and
peaks up to 7.
That done, increase the compression as desired, and then turn off TX TEST

It will normally take a few syllables to come up to full power, but only
a few.

It was fixed by doing a *complete* set of power calibrations from the
procedure in the manual (no short cuts please) using an accurate power
meter.  73, Guy.
