K3 does not transmit (FSK) on lower bands?

Axel Kaiser-2

I am having problems with my K3 in transmitting RTTY on the lower bands (160m -30m).

I am using MMTTY togetner with a microham microkeyerII. On the higher bands (20m-10m) RTTY works fine with the mode setting on Data and having selected FSK. But when I switch to the lower bands, the transmit LED will light, however there is no FSK shifting, no tones are being sent and no tones can be heard in the monitor either.  Transmitting voice on the lower bands is working fine though!

I checked the menu for any band dependencies but couldn't find any that would apply to FSK transmission. Does anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong?

Are you sure that data mode is FSK D on the lower bands?
The K3 stores the data sub-mode independently for each
band, make sure you are set for the same sub-mode (AFSK A
or FSK D) as you have configured in MMTTY.

Axel,

The K3 remembers the DATA submode separately for each band. Perhaps you
have the FSK D submode selected on the higher bands, but one of the
other submodes selected on the lower bands.

Thank you Greg, Joe and Richard, you solved my problem.
In fact, the DATA MD setting was different on the lower bands for some reason. Actually I didn't know that this setting is band dependent.

I checked the manual again and didn't find any remark to this respect in the Data Modes chapter.
Anyway thanks again, you've made my day!!! This reflector is a marvelous thing!
