K3 doesn't boot when KAT500 is unpowered

Hi,

my KAT500 works fine without any problems. It is connected to the K3 via the DB15 interface cable. There is no KPA500 in the chain.
Today I noticed, the K3 hangs when switched on while there is no power supply to the KAT500! The K3 display is blank, no audio. No reaction from all buttons.

Can somebody confirm that? Any ideas?

Normal Operation. See note on page 11. This one got me too, Tom. The
KAT500 must be powered up first, then the K3.

Hi Tom,
I have a KAT500-K and have had it operational since
building it end of December. I have read the manual from front to back
and it does mention that very fact:

When using the KAT500 with the K3 and the two are interconnected using
theDB15 interface cable, be sure to apply power to the KAT500 first
(before switching on the K3).

Because, as you have observed the K3 will exhibit stange behaviour:
exactly as you have described.

So Always Power the K3 On First when you have KAT500 connected Via the
DB-15 interface cable!
