I have a question to see if there is an easy, foolproof (almost) way to
switch between a biased mike (CM500) and a non-biased mike (Heil Proset). At KP2M we sometimes run multi-op with two K3's. We change ops every 4 hours. I like using the CM500 and another op likes using the Heil Proset. The differences are the biased vs. non-biased and the TX EQ are different. I was wondering if between the front and rear panel mike jacks and the programmable commands if there would be a quick way to switch headsets. Sometimes we switch ops during a long run so whatever we do has to be fast. And I would like it to be close to foolproof so that we don't forget to do it. Maybe a small external program to make the switch? The simple solution is that I bring my Heil Proset too. But I really like the comfort of the CM500's when wearing them for long periods. Tnx for any feedback. 73, N2TK, Tony ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Tony,
That sounds like a task for a couple of macros. 73, Don W3FPR On 8/15/2011 7:45 AM, N2TK, Tony wrote: > I have a question to see if there is an easy, foolproof (almost) way to > switch between a biased mike (CM500) and a non-biased mike (Heil Proset). Hello,
I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my K3/100 Kit tomorrow, 8/16/11, and had a question along this line. I am wanting to connect a Yaesu MD-100 desk mic to the front, the Heil Proset headset to the back, a remote foot switch to PTT for both CW and the Heil Proset, and connect my Yaesu SP 2000 external speaker. Will this setup work OK? Thanks for all input. I'm looking forward to joining the Elecraft family!!! Knowing Tom Hammond, N0SS, for almost 40 years and grieving his loss, I know that I will love the K3 in his honor. 73, Mitch |
Mitch,
Your MD-100 microphone will not work unless it is modified. You must re-wire the microphone plug to match the Elecraft pinout. 73, Don W3FPR On 8/15/2011 12:24 PM, WD0ECO wrote: > Hello, > > I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my K3/100 Kit tomorrow, 8/16/11, and > had a question along this line. > > I am wanting to connect a Yaesu MD-100 desk mic to the front, the Heil > Proset headset to the back, a remote foot switch to PTT for both CW and the > Heil Proset, and connect my Yaesu SP 2000 external speaker. Hi Don,
I just replied to you via email an answer along with a couple of other questions. Yes, I'm getting an adapter for the mic in order to use it on the K3 and continue using it on my FT-950. Thanks, Mitch |

I have created 2 macros to switch between a Heil HC5 and a Icom SM-8 (front and rear)
It works fine, but it is not foolproof. The problem is that the BIAS switch toggles, There is no foolproof command - if you press the Heil Macro twice, it will toggle the BIAS on / off. I have asked Wayne once if he could change this, but I do not remember that I got a response. I programed a soft key (XIT) to bring up the mic selection. So I hold XIT then tap #1 and/or #2 = Done.
The #1 switches between front and rear jacks and #2 turns bias on/off. I consider that fast - for me. 73, Bob - W6OPO |
