I am using a pair of Yaesu YH-77st headphones. When I plug them into my K3
after listening to the K3 on speakers, the AF setting almost blows my ears off. I have to crank the AF way down. Is there any way to make the audio level using speakers to be at compatible levels with headphones. Any ideas sure would be appreciated. Please do as Jerry asks and implement a headphone volume reduction in a
menu. In addition to saving eardrums it keeps the CW monitor level correct. A left-right balance would also be great for those of us who have one ear that's much worse than the other. 73 and thanks for listening, Carl WS7L > Is there any way to make the audio level using speakers to be at compatible > levels with headphones. In the meantime, using amplified computer speakers will accomplish the same
thing. Set the radio's AF gain to a comfortable level with headphones, and then set the speakers' volume controls. 73, Jim N7US -----Original Message----- Please do as Jerry asks and implement a headphone volume reduction in a menu. >... Is there any way to make the audio level using speakers to be at
compatible levels with headphones? I've been whining about this since 'day one'. I've fiddled with the menu setting to no avail. When the audio gain is set at 9:00 to accomodate headphones (Sony MDRV-6s), I must turn the level up to 10 for either internal or external speakers, and even then it's barely adequate. (My hearing is good.) I've always thought that the spkr amp didn't have enough gain. I'd be willing to change a feedback resistor to increase it. It's my only remaining 'complaint' with the K3. Jerry,
Just a suggestion for headphone usage in general -- regardless of the equipment into which they are being plugged: Never plug headphones into any device, while they are in place over your ears. I use headphones extensively here, for both ham radio and general music listening, and I learned my lesson many years ago. I always plug them into the source device while they are resting on the table top or around my neck resting on my shoulders. If the source volume is way too loud, you'll find out well before it becomes startling/painful to your ears. None of this is probably news to you -- just a reminder ;-) 73, Dale WA8SRA On 10/13/2012 12:00 PM, Jerry Pittenger wrote: > I am using a pair of Yaesu YH-77st headphones.
