Why not?
How about offering the case in different colors? White, Gray, Black, Midnight Blue, Deep Red, Mauve? It would be a first in hamdom wouldn't it? I can't recall ever having a choice of color when buying ham gear. If we went with metallic finishes, then we could do brushed aluminum or maybe anodized in gold, blue, red or green. - Keith N1AS - - K2 5411.ssb.100 - - K3 Wave 3 - _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Just black works fine for me! It compliments my jeans and scruffy
shirt quite nicely. If it came in different colors, I might have to buy an all new wardrobe to match my new "accessory", and that would make the purchase of a K3 quite an overall expenditure. I might have to have a different K3 to match my current mood too, so more expenses would result. :-) Now, where did I put those credit card applications offering cheap credit? 73, Don W3FPR Darwin, Keith wrote: > Why not? > > How about offering the case in different colors? Keith, I like this idea. My wife just purchased a Ruby Red Dell Laptop. (Her name is Ruby) But, I am not sure about the complexity of manufacture. How many colors to offer? How many chassis to stock? Thinks like that. The only company doing this is the German Company....Hilberling...which has Bright Blue, Midnight Black and Blood Red. I like the idea, it has merit, but I doubt that it would be practical and that it would increase sales because I have to have the White K3. It is the bomb! Lee - K0WA In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply. If you don't have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it. Not practical, ea? Yea, you're probably right. Having suggested it, I
wonder how much my local body shop would charge me to strip / refinish the existing top, sides, bottom to be something fun. As it is currently constructed, the K3 in finished in a variety of
different textures. Black is a good color for minimizing those differences; other colors might not manage the task as well. 73, Steve NN4X On 2/26/08, Darwin, Keith <[hidden email]> wrote: > Why not? > > How about offering the case in different colors? heh .. I was considering bringing a new refrigerator to the body shop
to get the sides repainted (why do they only make stainless steel refrigerators with black sides?). I'm ready to buy a set of K3 panels in the K1/K2 gray ...
Perhaps Aptos could produce a few K2 color-schemed cases w/front panels ... It's surprising to see the different color tastes reflected in the fabric and thread colors chosen by Rose's case orders. 73! Hi all,
Any ham with a ham wife will instantly know this is a bad idea. Many a time I've bought an item of ham gear that I've wanted under the pretense it was for her. If a colour choice is on offer, I'd have to live with whatever colour she picks. I just can't imagine having a pink K3 in the shack! This brings to mind a quote attributed to Henry Ford. When asked what
colors the Model T was available in he replied: "You can have any color you want as long as it's black." Hey, if it's good enought for Henry, Eric & Wayne, it's good enough for me! :) Bruce, NM5B > Just black works fine for me! Another thought on this...
Maybe those who want to chose the color of their radio should consider the Hilberling PT-8000. I see they are estimated to be $14,000 for the 100 watt version, or $16,000 for the 600 watt version. For those prices, I presume that you can have it in your choice of color. It looks like the 600 watt version is a better deal - only $2K more for the 400 additional watts. ;-) http://arraysolutions.com/Products/hilberling.htm#top%20of%20page I hope Rob can get his hands on one shortly after they're released. I'll probably be keeping my K3, however. 73, Steve NN4X On 2/26/08, Ken Kopp <[hidden email]> wrote: > I'm ready to buy a set of K3 panels in the K1/K2 gray ... > > Perhaps Aptos could produce a few K2 color-schemed cases > w/front panels ... > > It's surprising to see the different color tastes reflected in the > fabric and thread colors chosen by Rose's case orders. > > 73! One of the things that caught my eye in the K3 was its colour - I'm not a fan of the Grey, reminds me too much of 'service' gear, of which I've never been a member.
