I have a large number of "1/8"- plugged patch cords.
None seem to fit the K3's jacks correctly. I've always attributed this to the quality of the jacks, not a possible size mismatch. The plugs on my several Heil headsets fit so sloppy that I've sometimes used tape to hold them askew to maintain contact. Are there plugs commonly available in the US that -do- fit properly? 73! Hi,
I have just measured a 3.5 mm jack at 3.46 mm and 0.136 inches, making it 11 thousandths larger than 1/8 of an inch. Probably makes a better fit that a nominal 1/8 inch plug (about 10% smaller). Mine are 3.5 mm and cause no bother. 73 Tim gm4lmh ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Both list high quality parts made by Switchcraft and Neutrik that do, as well as a good vendor that sells via the internet. http://audiosystemsgroup.com/publish.htm 73, Jim K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Thank you, Ron (AC7AC). The Radio Shack P/N 274-284 plug does indeed fit
the STEREO/MONO jack on the back of the K3. The Radio Shack package shows it as a 1/8" Stereo Phone Plug. Nevertheless, it fits the K3 jack without wiggling around. I find it very hard to eyeball the difference between the 1/8" and 3.5mm plugs.
