In the past I had several rigs with desktop keypads used for direct
frequency entry - very handy and easy to use. Now, I would like to see a direct frequency entry keypad for the K3 that does NOT require a computer. Using the serial port of the K3, this should be relatively easy to accomplish. This would allow me to use one less computer program for the K3 - specifically, HRD - which I only use for frequency control by use of favorites. Thanks, Bill W2BLC K-Line (???) ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

The K3 already has this feature on the front panel ... very easy to use,
too. 73 ! There is a direct entry keypad on the front of the K3 designed for just
that purpose. Hi Bill,
Pignology is making one. It operates the same way PigKnob does in that it can proxy serial data from a computer to the radio or operate standalone. I'm just waiting for the prototype boards to come back to test before making a batch. 73, Nick N3WG On Sun, Feb 2, 2014 at 2:04 PM, Bill W2BLC <[hidden email]> wrote: > In the past I had several rigs with desktop keypads used for direct > frequency entry - very handy and easy to use. > > Now, I would like to see a direct frequency entry keypad for the K3 that > does NOT require a computer. Hi Bill and everyone else,
Following up on this email, I got the prototype boards and and assembled one and it's working like a champ. Here's a demo video of what I'm calling PigPad (for now). http://youtu.be/lhVeHNsSzyI 73, Nick N3WG On Sun, Feb 2, 2014 at 2:12 PM, Nick Garner <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi Bill, > Pignology is making one. I presume the serial path could be:
PC-->PigKnob i'face gizmo-->PigPad-->radio? If that path is OK, can I program PK and PP without disconnecting anything? Given that the back of my radio gives totally new meaning to the term "wireless", it would be really cool if the PigPad could replace the PK i'face gizmo so the PK RJ11 goes to the PP too and it all goes to the radio. I haven't yet found anything to do with PK Macros 6-8 so nine banks of 10 each might be overkill for me, but anything that gets the controls down flat on the desk is good. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2014 Cal QSO Party 4-5 Oct 2014 - www.cqp.org On 2/19/2014 8:28 PM, Brian Denley wrote: >> On Feb 19, 2014, at 7:29 PM, Nick Garner <[hidden email]> wrote: >> >> Hi Bill and everyone else, >> Following up on this email, I got the prototype boards and and assembled >> one and it's working like a champ.
