I have never regretted my K3 purchase. Even when the KIO3 board flaked out.

Quality is remembered long after the price has been forgotten, junk reminds
you quickly of what you have done. The base price of a K3/100 is quite cheap for what you get and holds the value "Very Well" for a long time if you will check. The base model will hold its own against most all radios the way you receive it but you can have the very best made if you desire I have one of each. I would like to know exactly what/which model transceiver meets the K3
specifications AT the same or lower cost. I don't know of any, but, I could be wrong. All of the current crop of transceivers work, it's just that the K3 does it better...:-) JMHO...and I AM biased of course! 73 Gary On 2 March 2013 22:11, Fred Smith <[hidden email]> wrote: > Quality is remembered long after the price has been forgotten, junk reminds > you quickly of what you have done. > > The base price of a K3/100 is quite cheap for what you get and holds the > value "Very Well" for a long time if you will check. Went to your web site someone misinformed you about the general coverage receiver it "Does Not" take up and extra space nor does have to be removed to install everything. What you were thinking is the sub-receiver and yes it does go in on the top "almost", there is the 2m module in there also. So install that GC receiver and do all the SWL you desire, I do also and love it enjoy your new K3. It's possible that they didn't misinform me as much as I read it wrong so
thank you!!! Great to know since I wanted to put as much together as possible in the first go around. 2M module wasn't that interesting to me as I don't do much VHF work anymore outside of Dstar. I did not mention a price and that was intentional for all the obvious reasons there were some in the 10k+ range. My K3 (loaded) replaced a FTDX-5000MP and with the P3/SVGA both about the same price $6000 range. Nick one thing I might suggest if you plan on one is the DVR early in the
build and the IF out/receive antenna this is an almost a must have others might have other early build items also. Yes you gained a lot in receiver performance/filtering/NR over the 9000, I
had not much over the 5000 but the filtering and the sub-receiver is what made me switch. Wow, that's incredible to hear from a cost perspective that you would still
have the same performance. Now you have me anticipating this package even more :) I really need to find space to build this! I have had my K3 for about a year now. There have been some teething
pains and I have been vocal about it. However, that said - my K3 is, without a doubt, the best rig I have owned in well over 50 years of operating. The ability to customize the rig to be your own makes it very desirable - so many settings to tinker with. The break-in keying is to die for. Hands down - the best I have ever used. The DSP seems to be able to handle most any challenge. I added the P3 and really enjoy it - shows what is going on up and down the band. I have various filters, the SWL board, and the tuner. I spend most of my time on 75 and 40 rag chewing and netting - QRM is NEVER an issue with the K3. I use HRD (old free version) for much of the rig control and am building a small desktop VFO control for easier "feet on the desk" tuning. The K3 will probably be my last rig - nice to finish with the very best. Truer words were never spoken. I agree with all.
