Hi all,
I've just added the TX INH function and its associated menu entry to the K3. Just in case you have no clue what this is: it provides a way for an external station controller to determine which of two or more transceivers can have access to resources such as an amplifier. It's typically used in multi-op contest situations. By popular demand, the TX inhibit level can be *either* active-low or active-high. One final detail: if any external device is using the TX INH input as a "Clear To Send" handshaking signal, then hopefully the CTS signal will be interpreted as "Clear To Send NOW", and the K3 will respond with the absolute minimum of internal delays. (Sorry to beat this horse again, but I'm asking now because it affects a project that is already in the detailed planning stage. For the record the K3 ACC output be mapped to the Yaesu "Band data" Jack as follows: Function K3 Yaesu DB15HD DIN8/262 ------------------------------------------------------ +13 n/a 1 TX Gnd 10 2 Ground 5,12 3 Band A 13 4 Band B 3 5 Band C 9 6 Band D 14 7 Inhibit/~Enable 7 8 (low to tx) Note: unless the pin 7 of the K3 ACC connector includes an internal pull-up, it will be necessary to provide an external pull-up (10K to +5V (max) source). This should be useful for the large number of accessories (both commercial and home built) that are compatible with the Yaesu "Band Data" interface. Any progress on an input that places the K3 into low power transmit (programmable level) for setting a RF activated remote tuner or amplifier/tuner like the Quadra, PW1, etc.? 73, ... Adding TX Inhibit was a great feature to have. Looking at the details though it seems this function is NOT available when the transverter interface is enabled. This would have been a very nice feature for us guys wanting to an "interlock" for T/R sequencing to protect pre-amps in uwave setups. Any chance XVRT-ON control being moved to the DIGOUT-1 pin, keeping TX-INH where it is and adding fuctionality for transverter setups both LP/HP?? Patiently waiting for my assembled K3. Hi Ben, As I'll be explaining in the next edition of the owner's manual, the XVTR ON signal is just a DC voltage that's present when the K3 is turned on. It doesn't turn on only when you're on transverter bands, and really should be called something else (like "Hey, I'm on!"). It behaves the same as the related pin on the K2's 9-pin connector. If you need to use this pin on the K3 for TX INH, instead, you can still get a functionally equivalent "XVTR ON" signal by using the K3's switched 12 VDC (at the accessory output RCA jack). Just connect it to pin 9 of the transverter control port. You can use a series resistor, say 1 K, since very little current is required at the transverter to turn its MOSFET power switch on. I'll be including full details for the K3 to transverter interface in the manual.
