Dear all,
I've recently noticed that if I leave the K3 on for some time (perhaps 10 minutes or more; I never verified), the VFO knob becomes inactive. In other words, spinning it will not change the frequency unless another button is pressed first. So far I've been able to "un-freeze" the VFO by hitting the lock button or the microphone key. I've never noticed this behavior before. Is it something new? 73 de James K3JPS ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Anyone?
Just wondering if this was always the way it was, or there's something I might have changed? 73 de James K3JPS _____ From: James Sarte [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Saturday, May 09, 2009 8:01 PM To: '[hidden email]' Subject: K3 timeout?? I've never seen the behaviour you described. (VFO encoder not responding
until a key is pressed, after being idle for several minutes). Sounds like some kind of issue with your rig. I would reload all firmware, including tables and see if that helps. Otherwise, perhaps you have a problem with the VFO A encoder. Are you using any kind of rig control software? Hi Dave,
Yes, I'm running HRD. Now that I think about it, both occasions the VFO froze, I do believe I had HRD running and connected to the K3. I've unplugged the control cable and turned the K3 on to see if I can duplicate the problem. If not, I suppose I could attribute it to an HRD or USB setting. I'll report back with my findings shortly. 73 de James K3JPS _____ From: David Gilbert [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Sunday, May 10, 2009 4:08 PM To: James Sarte Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 timeout?? Hi all,
Just for the record, I am running HRD (via LP-Bridge) and have never experienced a problem like this. I use a USB dongle for the connection to the K3 as my computer has no serial ports. Knut - AB2TC

Hi Knut,
I've left my K3 on now for about 30 minutes. The VFO still hasn't frozen up. Only thing different is that the laptop isn't connected and therefore, HRD isn't running. I'll leave it on for another hour or so and see if anything changes. 73 James K3JPS -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of ab2tc Sent: Sunday, May 10, 2009 5:07 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 timeout??
