Just wondering how you have the rear panel configuration set for bias when using the RP jacks and the CM-500. I just ordered one and would like to get the K3 configured before it arrives. Also will be using a foot switch rather than VOX. I never did like VOX operation as it's too easy for noises and other conversations in the shack to trip it at the wrong time and have it cause QRM to someone I happened to be listening to.

Hope this didn't get duplicated - First time I sent it I forgot to set it to plain text instead of HTML.
Just wondering how those of you using it have the rear panel configuration set for bias when using the RP jacks and the CM-500? I just ordered one from Sam Ash and would like to get the K3 configured before it arrives. Also will be using a foot switch rather than VOX. I never did like VOX operation as it's too easy for noises and other conversations in the shack to trip it at the wrong time and have it cause QRM to someone I happened to be listening to. Yes, the CM500 will plug directly into the rear jacks on the K3. Set
the MIC selection to RP and press the [1] key to set it to "L" or low level. Now use the [2] key to cycle to "Bias". Once you have the headset, go thru the normal mic gain and compression adjustments. You'll find the mic gain to be set pretty low (prob less then 20) and adjust comp to get about 10db on the COMP scale. I'm trying to remember, but I think I have the TX EQ set to -16 -16 -16 0 0 0 0 0. My widest filter is 2.8KHz so I haven't tried AM or FM so far. ...bc nr4c Quoting Jim Sheldon <[hidden email]>: > Just wondering how you have the rear panel configuration set for > bias when using the RP jacks and the CM-500. I'm using the CM-500 on the FP, via the headphone and MIC connectors.
Settings: FP:HI, with bIAS on. Works fine on rear or front panels, however the Heil and dual speakers are normally plugged into the RP at this station. Using the headphones from the FP allows for easier access to the headphone jack when switching between speakers and headset. matt W6NIA On Wed, 12 Jan 2011 07:49:05 -0600, you wrote: >Just wondering how you have the rear panel configuration set for bias when using the RP jacks and the CM-500.
